There are times when you want delicious food, with a healthy serving for a good price. Luckily in Jon’s local area of Ealing, Kobe sushi restaurant ticks all those boxes. Just minutes away from Ealing broadway station it’s a definite must visit place especially when they do quite a decent lunch menu special.

Kobe - main dishes

So just for over £8, Kobe Sushi offers you a main dish and a drink. For £1.50 you can have miso soup or a salad. Considering this deal, myself, Jon and our friends Nas and Becky picked 3 choices from this lunch special menu and shared everything amongst ourselves. Honestly, by the end of the meal we were all waddling from being so full.

So here are some snaps of what we ordered.

Three Roll Set: Classic maki rolls with wasabi & ginger

So this set included tuna rolls, salmon rolls & cucumber rolls. However, we kindly asked the staff if we could swap the cucumber for avocado and they did. For no extra charge!

Gyu Don : Cooked sliced beef with onions on a bed of rice, ginger & pickles

If it’s one dish Jon and I always pick, it’s this one. We just can’t get over the flavoursome marinade of the tender beef coupled with fluffy Japanese rice.

Katsu Don: Deep fried breaded pork cutlet & egg on a bed of rice, ginger & pickles

I’m a sucker for pork, and I don’t really know why. But this dish was delicious and did you know, Japanese students tend to eat this dish the night before taking a major test or school entrance exam. Apparently “katsu” is a homophone of the verb 勝つ katsu, meaning “to win” or “to be victorious”. Overall, we really enjoyed our meal here. Even though we only picked 3 main courses all 4 of us definitely ate our fair share of food, if not more. We all left happy, full and the bill only came up to £6 each! It’s definitely a place I’d revisit for some good cheap comfort food. Plus, it’s just around the corner from WA cafe!
